Renewal, Inc. is a private not-for-profit 501 (c)3 organization incorporated in 1976 providing alternative housing and community corrections services to individuals in Allegheny County, the state of Pennsylvania and the Federal Criminal Justice System.
Renewal, Inc. is “dedicated to the renewal of individuals in the criminal justice system and to their return to society as responsible citizens.” Renewal believes in the positive integration and rebuilding of lives of offenders through education, job readiness, counseling, community service, drug & alcohol/mental health treatment, as well as, social readjustment by redefining life’s goals and values.
Renewal Treatment, Inc. was licensed in 2001 to provide drug and alcohol treatment services and has maintained licensure in good standing since the inception of services. RTI is designed for individuals who have histories of addiction and mental health disorders.
Programs and services for women were introduced in early 2006. At that time, Renewal contracted services with Lydia’s Place, Inc., a non-profit that provides a continuum of care for women who have experienced incarceration and want to change their lives. Recognizing the invaluable synergies between Renewal and Lydia’s Place, a formal alliance was created in August, 2011.
In October, 2011, Renewal, Inc. introduced a new corporation “GETPAID”. GETPAID is an acronym for: Gaining Employment Through Planning Advocacy Initiative & Dedication. This company offers a job training program for offenders reentering the workforce. The program integrates the successful elements of current employment readiness programming with contemporary best practices in employment reentry services.
Renewal, Inc. is proud to be an American Correctional Association (ACA) accredited agency since 1999.
