Chief Executive Officer
Douglas C. Williams
Douglas C. Williams is President and Chief Executive Officer of Renewal, Inc., a non-profit, community corrections organization that provides comprehensive programming empowering male and female offenders in the criminal justice system to successfully reintegrate into society. Renewal and its subsidiaries, Renewal Treatment, Inc., Lydia’s Place and GETPAID, Inc., deliver alternative housing, specialized treatment in both drug and alcohol and mental health, an individualized, medically monitored inpatient detoxification program, work release programs, and other reentry support services based on a cognitive behavioral approach that emphasizes accountability and responsibility of the individual.
Williams joined Renewal in 2003. Under his leadership, the organization has demonstrated significant growth, and has become a respected model for holistic rehabilitation and reentry programming. Renewal delivers tens of millions of dollars in annual economic impact through its efforts in Southwestern Pennsylvania, supporting hundreds of jobs. Its contributions to substantially reduced recidivism rates have ultimately resulted in large cost savings for Allegheny County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Today, Renewal is embarking on a major expansion with the opening of a new state-of- the-art facility in Downtown Pittsburgh, further demonstrating the significance of the critical need it is trusted to fill in the community.
With 40 years of experience in the human service and corrections field, Williams has proven capabilities overseeing and improving organizational operations, including day-to-day leadership and planning. He has extensive knowledge of grant and approval processes and is responsible for securing contracts with the County, State and Federal criminal justice systems to provide alternative housing and work release for offenders. That expertise developing relationships with state and county legislators and governmental entities has been instrumental in furthering Renewal’s growth trajectory in the corrections and drug and alcohol treatment fields.
Williams earned his Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a well-known and active voice in the corrections arena, and is affiliated with the American Correctional Association and the International Community Corrections Association and has served on several Boards throughout Pennsylvania.
