Secure Sanction Center

The Pennsylvania Community Alternative to Prison Program (PennCAPP) gives the offender an alternative to returning to the State prison system for technical parole violators. These violators may be offered the privilege of participating in this program which will focus on issues of addiction and relapse. If successfully completing this program, the offender will be returned to the community and resume their parole status. If the offender displays poor adjustment, they could be returned to a state correctional institution.

The Art of Living Prison Program

On day one, commitment and responsibility and the "art of listening" are covered, along with an introduction to the breathing.  Specific breathing techniques are introduced, along with a short-guided meditation.  On days two and three, physical yoga is practiced and the cornerstone breathing technique, the Sudarshan Kriya, is taught.  Participants rest afterward on blankets or mats on the floor.  On days four and five, participants are shown how to do a complete breathing and meditation program on their own and are monitored.  Additional yoga is done and the health benefits are reviewed, along with ways to cope with negativity during the day.  Participants rest on the floor each day after yoga and breathing.  Day six, group Sudarshan Kriya is practiced, everyone rests and course points are reviewed.  Community service is discussed and course points are reviewed.  Participants agree to attend weekly follow-up sessions for the next six weeks.  Exit forms and Clinical Index of Stress are completed by the participants.
