Supportive Services is a key element to the success of Renewal Inc.’s programming. The Life Skills Curriculum, Employment Services and Cognitive groups are designed to enhance transition from a period of incarceration to a productive return to the community. This is completely in line with Renewal’s mission.

Supportive Services provides GED preparation and Life Skills/Work Skills that are designed for actual skills training versus basic knowledge transfer. We believe that the best way to learn a skill is to actually demonstrate the skill and its practical application. Each class covers skills, tools and techniques that are utilized in the workforce and in life on a day-to-day basis. The emphasis is positive and focuses on thinking correctives, incremental successes and transferable skills that range from following a schedule to completing a W-2 form.

Vocational counseling and employment referral offers realistic goal-setting and an incremental plan for success on a one-to-one basis. Following a self-assessment and Career path investigation, i.e. apprenticeship, on-the-job training, educational plan, etc. vocational counseling sessions are scheduled to discuss in further detail job source resources, interviewing and follow-up, and initial employment support.

Our cognitive curriculum utilizes the Commitment to Change series and focuses on thinking error correctives, development of positive habits and risk assessment to evaluate consequences to action, both positive and negative.

We offer Anger Management, Grief and Trauma, Alcohol and other Drug education, Responsible Parenting, Art and Recreation Therapy. Clients are recommended by their case manager to participate in any number of the groups offered.

Our Community Service to non-profits in the area is an important key to promoting pro-social or restorative justice. We average over 14,000 hours of community service on an annual basis. Putting a dollar amount to the numerous hours of manual labor or clerical support, non-profit agencies are able to save thousands of dollars.
